Emergency Assistance

Emergency Assistance is provided through the Prevention, Retention, and Contingency Plan (PRC), community resources, and the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) which is provided by FEMA, through the United Way.

The primary emergency asssitance categories are car repair, housing/shelter, utility assistance and, employment related needs. There is an application process and several documents have to be provided. To learn more about the primary categories, click on the category you are interested in at the left of this information.

Agency staff see applicants on a "first come, first serve" basis.  Although an appointment is not needed, it is a good idea to call before coming in to talk with a social worker about your specific need and learn about the documents you will need to bring.

For PRC assistance an applicant's income must be at, or below, 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines and the applicant must have minor children in their custody. EFSP funds are usually available from February - May each year. EFSP funds are for housing/shelter and are available to adults without children as well as adults with custody of their children.
