Our Director, Paulette R. Stephens, welcomes you to the web site for the Wood County Department of Job and Family Services.
Since 1934 we have been serving Wood County residents in accordance with our Mission. With 82 full and part time employees in four divisions we address all types of challenges that face our residents. The four divisions each serve a specific role in assisting our customers:
Children’s Services: The primary goal of this unit is the well-being and protection of children residing within Wood County. The services range from abuse prevention and primary intervention to long-range and permanency planning for children.
Social Services: Our Social Services division works with families and adults who have emergent needs such as loss of shelter or car repair to continue employment. The Social Services division deals with Elder Care and Homemaker/Home Health services for the elderly population in Wood County, as well as Adult Protective Services. Child Care programs are also provided by the Social Services unit.
Employment Services: Wood County is committed to helping our residents achieve self sufficiency through employment. We offer a wide range of employment services at our office and through our sister site www.woodcountyjobs.com.
Employment Medical and Income Services: The EMIS division administers the State and Federal Public Assistance Programs locally in Wood County. These programs commonly known as Ohio Works First, Food Stamps and Ohio Medicaid provide cash, food stamps and healthcare coverage based on state and federal needs standards.
