Housing/Shelter

Housing and Shelter assistance is available once over a two-year period, through PRC and EFSP funds. It is important to note that the maximum any applicant may receive for Housing/Shelter, Utilities, and/or Appliance or Furnace repair is $1500.00 in a two-year period.
The following are highlights from the PRC plan:
PRC can pay for the previous month's rent/mortgage up to $600.00 (to prevent eviction), or the first month's rent up to $600.00 and deposit up to $600.00. There must be notice, in writing, of the intent to evict or foreclose for failure to pay the rent or mortgage payment. The amount paid on a past due mortgage loan is only the principle for one previous month.
In order to qualify for housing assistance the applicant must be:
- Homeless
- Under an eviction notice or court order
- Involved in documented domestic violence
- Residing in a home that is a risk for the applicant's health (as verified in writing by the applicant's physician)
Landlords and mortgage companies accepting the PRC/EFSP voucher from the agency, must agree not to evict the applicant for 30 days from the date the voucher is issued.
One credit check report will be paid when a potential property owner requires this. The property owner must supply a copy of the credit report to the agency before this will be paid. The maximum paid for a credit check is $30.00 and does not count toward the $600.00 allowable for rent/mortgage payment.
Appliances, delivery and furnace repairs or replacement are also covered in the Housing/Shelter section of the full PRC plan. | |
