Homemaker / Home Health Aide Services

Services for Wood County residents who are 60 or older or with severe disabilities who need in-home supportive services as recommended by their physician. Services are primarily funded by the WCDJFS levy with some funding provided through Title XX.

Homemaker Services
Light housekeeping and laundry services for those who are no longer physically able to clean their home. Services determined during a home visit with a social services worker. Must not have another able-bodied adult or child 15 or older living in the household.
Eligibility requirements include income, assets, and verification of physical need. This program is designed primarily for elders. However, these services are also available for adults under 60 years of age if they have medically identified disabilities that prevent them from keeping their home a safe environment.

Chore Services
This program is only available to adults 60 years of age and older and who own their own home. Must not have another able-bodied adult or child 15 or older living in the household.

Eligibility requirements include income, assets, and a statement of physical need. Services such as lawn mowing, snow shoveling and a one-time fall leaf clean-up are provided to the elder by a third party vendor. The cost for these services are reimbursed to the vendor by the agency.

Personal Care
Assistance with personal hygiene including bathing, shampooing and nail care. Services are provided by home health aides through a contract with the Wood County Health Department. Eligibility requirements include income, assets, and verification of physical need. This program is designed primarily for elders. However, these services are also available for adults under 60 years of age if they have medically identified disabilities that prevent them from keeping their home a safe environment.

Med Box Set-Up
This program is only available to adults 60 years of age and older. WCDJFS contracts with the Wood County Health Department to provide a licensed RN to coordinate the filling of medication boxes. Eligibility requirements include income, assets, and verification of physical need.
